ג'ו מגיע במקור משיקגו, אבל הוא חי בישראל ובשנים האחרונות האקרו הפך להיות הציר המרכזי של חייו. הוא מתאמן, לומד ומלמד אקרו באופן יומיומי והוא מלמד גם בכנסים בחו"ל וגם בארץ, בתל-אביב.
